    • Family: Asteraceae (Daisy family)

    • Common Names:

      • English: Lilac Tasselflower, Cupid’s Shaving Brush

      • Malayalam: Muyalcheviyan Pullu / Muyalcheviyan Poovu 

     Plant Description

    • Type: Annual herb

    • Height: 15 – 50 cm

    • Stem: Erect, smooth, green to purplish, usually branched at the top

    • Leaves:

      • Lower leaves: Lobed, larger, forming a basal rosette

      • Upper leaves: Smaller, clasping the stem

    • Flowers:

      • Small, pinkish-purple (sometimes white), tubular flowers in rounded heads

      • Arranged on slender stalks above the foliage

    • Seeds: Light, with pappus (hairy structure) for wind dispersal

    • Habitat: Common weed in tropical and subtropical regions, especially in gardens, roadsides, and fields
