    • Family: Myrtaceae

    • Common Names: Purple Guava, Red Guava, Maroon Guava, Jam Phal (Hindi), Amrood (India)

     Plant Appearance

    • Tree: Small, evergreen shrub or tree, usually 3–10 m tall

    • Leaves: Opposite, oblong, leathery, with prominent veins

    • Flowers: White, with 4–5 petals and numerous stamens, mildly fragrant

    • Fruits:

      • Round to oval, medium-sized

      • Skin may be purplish-maroon to greenish-purple 

      • Flesh can be pink, red, or deep purple

      • Sweet, aromatic flavor—ranging from mildly tart to very sweet

    • Soil: Well-draining loam or sandy soil; pH 5–7.5
    • Sun Light: Full sun for maximum fruiting
