Plant Overview

• Botanical Name: Dracaena sanderiana

• Common Names: Lucky Bamboo, Ribbon Plant, Curly Bamboo

• Type: Evergreen perennial grown in water or soil, often as an indoor ornamental plant.

• Appearance: Upright green canes with narrow, lance-shaped leaves; stems can be trained into spirals, braids, or towers.

 Care Guide

1. Sun Light

• Best in bright, indirect light.

• Can tolerate low light (why it’s popular indoors).

• Avoid direct harsh sunlight → can scorch leaves.

2. Watering

• If grown in water:

  • Use distilled/filtered water or keep tap water standing 24 hours (to remove chlorine).

  • Change water every 7–10 days.

  • Keep roots submerged, but don’t cover entire stalk.

• If grown in soil:

  • Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry.

  • Ensure soil is well-draining.

3. Soil

• Well-draining potting mix (if planted in soil).

• Can thrive equally well in just water + pebbles.

4. Fertilizer

• Use a diluted liquid fertilizer (very weak solution) once every 4–6 weeks.

• Over-fertilizing can burn the roots.

5. Pruning & Training

• Trim yellowing leaves/stalks.

• Can be shaped into spirals, braids, or pyramids with careful training.
