Plant Details

• Scientific Name: Crassula ovata (dwarf cultivars include ‘Minima’, ‘Hummel’s Sunset’, etc.)

• Common Names: Miniature Jade, Dwarf Jade, Lucky Plant, Money Tree (succulent type)

• Family: Crassulaceae

• Type: Succulent, perennial evergreen

• Height: 20–50 cm (much smaller than the standard Jade)

• Leaves: Thick, fleshy, oval, glossy green (sometimes with reddish edges)

• Flowers: Small, star-shaped, pink/white clusters (appear in winter on mature plants)

 Care Instructions

Sun Light

• Needs bright, indirect sunlight for at least 4–6 hrs daily.

• Can tolerate some direct morning/evening sun (brings red edges to leaves).

• Too little light → leggy growth.

 Watering

• Follow the “soak and dry” rule → water thoroughly, then let soil dry out completely.

• Summer: Once every 7–10 days.

• Winter: Once every 2–3 weeks (dormant period).

• Avoid overwatering → root rot is the main killer.

Soil

• Well-draining cactus/succulent mix.

Fertilizer

• Use a succulent fertilizer (low nitrogen, higher phosphorus & potassium like 5:10:10).

• Feed once every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring–summer).

• Stop fertilizing in winter.

• Organic option: Diluted vermicompost tea or seaweed extract (once every 2 months).
