Spider Plant- Hanging -ground filling plant

The Spider Plant  is one of the easiest and most forgiving houseplants you can grow. It’s loved for its arching green-and-white striped leaves and its little plantlets that dangle like spiders on a web.

 General Information

• Scientific name: Chlorophytum comosum

• Common names: Spider Plant, Airplane Plant, Ribbon Plant, Hen-and-Chicken

• Type: Herbaceous perennial (usually grown indoors)
  

• Leaves: Long, narrow, arching leaves, usually variegated (green with white or cream stripes)

• Flowers: Small white star-like flowers on long stalks, followed by baby plantlets

• Sun Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Tolerates low light but grows slower. Avoid harsh direct sun 

• Soil: Well-draining potting mix 

 Watering

• Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry.

• Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy.

• Tolerates occasional neglect/drought.
  

Fertilizer

• Use a balanced liquid fertilizer 

 Care & Maintenance

• Pruning: Trim brown tips and dead leaves.

• Repotting: Every 1–2 years, when roots crowd the pot (they like being slightly root-bound).
