    About the Product

    Plant Details

    • Botanical Name: Asplenium nidus

    • Family: Aspleniaceae

    • Common Names: Bird’s Nest Fern, Nest Fern, Cobra Nest Fern

    • Origin: Native to Southeast Asia, Australia, Pacific islands; now cultivated worldwide.

    • Type: Epiphytic / terrestrial fern, evergreen ornamental

     Appearance

    • Growth Habit: Rosette-forming fern that looks like a nest or crown.

    • Height & Spread: Typically 30–120 cm tall; some can grow larger outdoors.

    • Leaves (Fronds):

      • Broad, wavy, glossy, bright green fronds with dark midribs.

      • Upright, arching, leathery texture.

    • Roots: Grows as an epiphyte on trees in the wild but adapts well to soil/pots indoors.

     Care Guide

    Sun Light

    • Prefers indirect, filtered light.

    • Avoid direct harsh sunlight (scorches leaves).

    • Indoors: thrives in bright corners or near east-facing windows.

     Soil

    • Requires well-draining, airy, organic-rich soil.

    • Ideal mix: peat moss/cocopeat + perlite + compost.

    • Also grows well in orchid mixes (epiphytic).

    Watering

    • Keep soil consistently moist, not soggy.

    • Water around the base of the plant, not directly into the rosette (prevents crown rot).

    • Likes humid conditions – misting helps.

     Fertilizer

    • Use a diluted liquid fertilizer (half-strength) once every 4–6 weeks during growing season.

    • Avoid strong fertilizers (sensitive roots).

     Pruning

    • Remove dead or yellowing fronds at the base.

    • Do not cut healthy fronds as it slows growth.
