Mickey Mouse plant- Ruttya Fruticosa / Rabbit Ear Plant

Ruttya fruticosa, commonly known as the Rabbit Ears Plant, is an attractive evergreen shrub valued for its unique tube-shaped orange or yellow flowers that resemble rabbit ears. It is a hardy ornamental plant suitable for gardens as well as pots.

🌞 Sunlight

• Prefers full sun to partial shade.

• Best flowering occurs when the plant gets at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily.

🪴 Potting Mix

• Needs well-draining soil.

• Ideal mix: garden soil + cocopeat + compost (1:1:1).

• Adding a small amount of perlite or sand helps improve drainage.

💧 Watering

• Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging.

• Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

• In summer, increase frequency; in winter, water less.

🌱 Fertiliser

• Feed with an organic compost or balanced NPK fertiliser (once in 30 days).

• During flowering season, a phosphorus-rich fertiliser helps improve blooms.
