    Plant Overview

    • Botanical Name: Alocasia spp.

    • Common Names: Elephant Ear Plant, African Mask Plant, Kris Plant

    • Origin: Tropical Asia & Eastern Australia

    • Type: Tropical perennial, grown as ornamental indoor/outdoor plant

    • Appearance: Large, striking arrow- or heart-shaped leaves with bold veins. Depending on the variety, leaves may be green, dark purple, or variegated.

    Care Guide

    • Prefers bright, indirect light.

    • Tolerates medium light but may lose vibrancy.

    • Avoid direct harsh sunlight → can burn leaves.

    2. Watering

    • Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy.

    • Water when top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry.

    • Sensitive to both overwatering (root rot) and underwatering (crispy edges).

    3. Soil

    • Needs well-draining, airy soil.

    • Best mix: peat or coco peat + perlite + orchid bark + compost.
